Falling for October!

Wow October is only just begun and I'm struggling to keep up!
The last weekend of September Tac and I travelled to St Louis for my niece's baptism. It was great fun watching all the cousins (and adults) interact!
If anyone has any travel tips for a one year old boy who loves to move and touch and play and......be a boy on a 3-4 hr airplane ride dooooo share!
we survived and it was worth it but man it is exhausting!

The following weekend we went with Tyler to San Francisco. He went for business and Tac and I hitched a ride. I have glamorous memories of San Francisco being one of my favorite cities. I loved visiting my sister when she lived there back in the early 2000's. The homeless population was astounding. Maybe I just glazed over that when I was in college visiting my older, cooler sister? And everyone smokes. And pot why stop pretending it is legal there and just make it legal for goodness sakes. yup so drugs and homeless people.
Of course, it still has much to offer as a city. Tyler had not been so I was sure to take him in an old cable car to Fisherman's Warf for that delicious sourdough bread bowl. I got him to ChinaTown for some amazing DimSum---yummmm! Tac is the year of the Dragon so I did find a matted piece of art for him. We had some not so great Indian food from New Delhi restaurant... We drove over the Golden Gate bridge. He did at least see Alkatraz but I hear it is closed- something to do with ahhheem Government shutdown. The last night we ventured--with child-- to the free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass concert in Golden Gate Park. I felt like if I took a wrong turn at any moment in this park my life would morph into A Midsummer's Night Dream and Pan would be messing with me. Seriously, we parked at one end of the park and made a 30 minute trek before we could even begin to hear notes of music. Maybe it was the pot induced haze that was engulfing some of the sound (minds).

I guess maybe the issue was being in a city I had once enjoyed without an 11 month old and learning to navigate in a new way. We went to Chicago and shared a room with Tac back in April when he was 6 months old--nigh and day. This trip I was hanging out in the hall for 3-4 hours of the day while Tac napped in our room. I could only venture as far as the monitor maintained reception.

All ye inventors out there why not make a monitor that you know reaches a far ways away--otherwise what is the point? It really would have been fine if I had considered bringing a real book since Tyler needed my Ipad for the conference and Tac needed the sound machine on my phone. Life without these technologies- how did we SURVIVE?!
Luckily sweet Becca brought chocolate one nap time and we got to complain to each other in the hall which by the way had great scenic views of the entire city.

Overall, we really managed to do quite a bit.
